Executive Director at Tamarind Tree School

Tamarind Tree School, an innovative institution serving marginalized tribal children in Dahanu, is seeking an Executive Director to lead its on-ground operations. As a pioneering elementary school (Grades 1-8) that integrates open-source technologies into its teaching and learning practices, we aim to provide high-quality, alternative education to those often overlooked by the traditional system. We are looking for a dynamic, visionary leader who is passionate about social justice and committed to educational innovation. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership in Academics:

    • Collaborate with teachers to bring clarity and innovation to academic content, delivery methods, assessments, and grading systems.

    • Drive the continuous improvement of teaching strategies, ensuring they align with our non-traditional, student-centered approach.

  2. Technological Integration:

    • Deep understanding of open-source technologies and the philosophy behind the open-source movement.

    • Spearhead the integration of digital tools into the curriculum, ensuring they are used effectively to enhance both teaching and learning experiences.

  3. Pedagogical Innovation:

    • Challenge conventional educational practices—such as textbooks, classroom-based teaching, and rote learning—and work with the leadership team to develop innovative approaches that reflect the needs of our students.

    • Stay committed to continuous pedagogical experimentation and improvement.

  4. Commitment to Social Justice:

    • Uphold Tamarind Tree’s core values of equality and social justice, ensuring that every decision and action reflects a commitment to empowering marginalized communities.

Location – Mumbai-Based: The role requires regular travel to Dahanu (4-5 times per week). However, candidates willing to relocate to Dahanu can discuss housing and logistical support with us.
