Support our Work

Tamarind Tree is looking for support to run its School for tribal children in Dahanu, Maharashtra. Additionally, the school works as a laboratory and our ideas are then released in the public domain. Our learning platform, My Big Campus is now available to children pan India and we are also looking for support to build a School without Walls.

SCHOOL WITHOUT WALLS – LEARNING NEVER STOPS

In these very challenging times, we have launched Open and Free online courses for children across India in the age group of 6 to 16 years. With our multilingual live classes we hope to keep our vision of a school without walls alive for millions of children. We are also signing up volunteer teachers to lead classes of their choice.

To help us sustain the effort to keep learning alive for children, please contribute an amount of your choice. The resources will be used to sustain and improve our digital infrastructure and build a team of quality teachers and mentors. The resources will also be used to increase the classes and reach a maximum number of children. As of now our learning platform at My Big Campus has over 300 children enrolled and taking classes daily. This number is increasing every day. Our platform is equipped to handle more than 5000 children.

BRIDGE THE GAP

While public education in India needs serious quality up-gradation, private education continues to be out of reach for the most marginalised communities across India.

Located in the tribal district of Palghar in the Western Indian state of Maharashtra, Tamarind Tree school has been trying to provide quality education to tribal children for the past ten years. Apart from teaching students with digitised pedagogical tools, the school also provides one balanced meal.

The cost of educating one child in Tamarind Tree school is Rs 25000 (USD 360) per annum, With a combined family income of less than Rs 7000 (USD 100) per month, the tribal parents are unable to pay for even one child. They do understand the value of good education and contribute Rs 9600 per annum at Rs 800 per month. That leaves out a gap of Rs 15400.

You can contribute to one child’s education by bridging the gap.
